2013 Napa Valley Limited - (special train to AAPRCO convention in Napa, CA)

A spectacular trip along the Pacific Ocean and through the Cascade Mountains took us to Seattle where the special train was organized. This trip traveled over non Amtrak routings taking us over Stampede Pass and along the Yakima River and through the Yakima River Canyon. The train spent the first night in Pasco Washington parked in a BNSF yard. Second morning we left Pasco and traveled the north side of the Columbia River for over 125 miles. Crossing the bridge at Wishram we then entered the Deschutes River Canyon following it all the way to Bend Oregon. We parked on a siding near downtown allowing everyone the opportunity to check out the high points of Bendís nightlife. Day 3 was ashort day with plenty of activity. The train stopped at Chemault Oregon for passengers to take a bus to visit Crater Lake. The train moved on to Chiloquin Oregon where once again a bus was available. This time the trip was to visit Train Mountain. An exciting outdoor live steam railroad in 7 Ĺ inch gauge. Our train then traveled on to Klamath Falls for the night. Transportation was available to take folks downtown for dinner or to visit the brew pub. Departing Klamath Falls we traveled through the volcanic field then climbed through pine forests to emerge at the infamous Keddie Wye. A short stop to changes crews and then we traveled through the Feather River Canyon and then entered the Sacramento Valley. A short stop at the Sacramento depot and then it was on to Napa. A really beautiful and scenic ride.
